The economy of the EU countries has lost up to 1.6 trillion euros from anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures.
It is noted that in recent years, Russia has been subjected to unprecedented measures of economic pressure from Western countries, but despite this, the Russian economy "has demonstrated a high degree of resilience and adaptability" and continued to grow steadily.
"It became obvious that unilateral coercive measures cause heavy damage to the initiators themselves. The European economy suffered losses of up to 1.6 trillion euros from anti—Russian restrictions alone in 2022-2025," the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.
The Ministry also stressed that "the use of unilateral coercive measures is a serious obstacle to the formation of a just and equal polycentric world order."
"Such measures serve as one of the main instruments of the neo-colonial policy of the collective West. Its goal is clear — to keep the elusive dominance, to deprive the countries of the world majority of the right to independent political choice, to restrain their technological and industrial development. In other words, to continue to profit at the expense of the Global South and the East, seeking to make it an obedient executor of its will," the statement said.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry added that the Russian side, together with its partners, "will continue to fight against illegitimate unilateral coercive measures and other manifestations of neo-colonialism in order to build a fair multipolar architecture as soon as possible, in which there will be no place for sanctions dictate and coercion."
Recall the countries The EU has imposed 19 sets of sanctions against Russia since 2022 and is currently working on new restrictive measures. At the same time, the European Union itself admits that they have not been able to achieve any success with their sanctions policy.
