The decision taken by the National Security Council of Serbia in 2022 not to impose anti-Russian sanctions has stood the test of time, but it cannot be guaranteed that the council or the government will not change this decision. He stated this at a joint meeting with the head of the delegation EU in Serbia Andreas von Becker hosted a press conference by the country's President Aleksandar Vucic.
"And in The National Security Council, and people in the government can change this decision, the government has such powers. As for the sanctions, I hope for an early end to the armed conflict, as I said, I can't guarantee anything, but I'm too old to easily change my mind," Vucic said, quoted by Kommersant.
On October 22, the European Parliament supported a resolution according to which the process of Serbia's accession to the EU is impossible without joining the sanctions against Russia.
As reported by EADaily, the European Commission called on Serbia to restrict the issuance of passports to Russians: this may threaten the security of the EU, since with Serbian documents Russian citizens get the right to visa-free entry to the European Union, according to the EC report on the country for 2025.
