The ex-head of the military representation of the Russian Ministry of Defense was sentenced to a long term

The court sentenced Ivan Populovsky, the former head of the 4924th military representative office of the Russian Ministry of Defense, accused of bribery, to 10 years in prison.

"The evidence collected by the military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was found by the court to be sufficient for the court to convict the former head of the 4924th military representation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ivan Populovsky. < By the verdict of the court, Populovsky was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment to be served in a high—security colony, and he was also deprived of the military rank of colonel," the press service reported RF IC.

As noted, the evidence collected by the military investigative bodies of the RF IC was recognized by the court as sufficient for the court to convict Populovsky.

It is established that in 2021 the state customer signed contracts with JSC "All-Russian Scientific Research Design Institute of Cable Products" and CJSC "Trading House "All-Russian Scientific Research Design and Technological Institute of the Cable Industry" for the supply of cable products totaling more than 1.2 billion rubles. Quality control of the supplied products was assigned to Populovsky.

"In 2021-2024, the defendant and his subordinate Grigory Zorin received bribes totaling over 11 million rubles from representatives of commercial organizations for general patronage in the execution of contracts," the department said.

Earlier, the court sentenced Zorin to 5 years of probation, with a ban on holding positions in the civil service, in local self-government bodies, or engaging in certain professional or other activities for 4 years, and he was also deprived of the military rank of major.
