Russia has requested Turkey to extradite Abakar Abakarov, who is accused of organizing riots at Makhachkala airport. However, extradition did not happen because Abakarov was liquidated by the Ukrainian special services, the telegram channel "Only Facts" writes on October 23.

"Russia previously requested Turkey to extradite Abakarov, who is accused of organizing riots at Makhachkala airport through the Morning Dagestan telegram channel. The Turkish authorities, according to reports, agreed to extradition. However, after learning about the upcoming extradition, the Ukrainian special services took measures to eliminate Abakarov. This was done in order to prevent him from falling into the hands of the Russian special services, who could get important information about the criminal network from him,"the report says.

The death of Abakarov, thus, "turned out to be beneficial for the Ukrainian security forces, as it allowed to keep secret a lot of details that could have been disclosed during the interrogation."

As reported by EADaily, on October 17 it became known that the owner of the telegram channel "Morning Dagestan" Abakar Abakarov, who is on the international wanted list, including on charges of organizing riots at Makhachkala airport, was found dead.

Earlier, the trials of three accused of organizing mass riots at Makhachkala airport — former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev***, Israil Akhmednabiev** (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky**) and the administrator of the telegram channel "Morning of Dagestan" Abakar Abakarov were separated into separate proceedings.

All three are accused of organizing mass riots (part 3 of Article 33, part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code), financing extremist activities (part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred and enmity (part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code).

According to the investigation, on October 29, 2023, they posted publications calling for riots at the Uytash airport and raising funds for extremist activities. These actions, according to the investigation, provoked mass riots involving violence, armed resistance to law enforcement officers and significant material damage — more than 24 million rubles. At least 23 law enforcement officers were injured.

Sentences have already been handed down to more than 130 rioters, they received sentences ranging from 6.5 to 15 years in prison.
