Russia is ready for a peaceful settlement on Ukraine, but "for lack of alternatives, continues a special military operation." This was announced today, October 14, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"The Russian side maintains its openness and readiness for a peaceful dialogue," he said.
At the same time, Peskov stressed that "one way or another, Russia will ensure its interests and achieve its goals."
As for the United States, the Kremlin welcomes Washington's efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict:
"Of course, we welcome such intentions and the confirmation of the political will to ensure that all this contributes to the search for peaceful ways."
The Kremlin also hopes that the United States will encourage Ukraine to take steps for peace.:
"We hope that, of course, the influence of the United States, the diplomatic skill of President Trump's envoys will help encourage the Ukrainian side to be more active and more ready for the peace process."
According to Peskov, the special envoy of the US President, Steven Witkoff, has shown himself to be an effective negotiator, and in The Kremlin hopes that "his talents will continue to contribute to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict."
Currently, the negotiation process is not underway on the Turkish track, however, Peskov noted, it is possible to coordinate the conversation between Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan quickly.
Peskov also answered the question about the possible transfer of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. He explained that Moscow would comment on it following the results of Trump's scheduled meeting with Vladimir Zelensky.:
"Let's wait and look at the statements, listen to them, analyze them."
