The special representative of the US president, Keith Kellogg, admitted that he offered Donald Trump to "take a risk and block the Baltic Sea" in order to influence the so-called Russian "shadow fleet".
Kellogg said in an interview with British politician and billionaire Michael Ashcroft:
"I told Trump, 'Sir, sometimes you have to take risks. You've done it before. Trust your instincts.“ Today I would hit the "shadow fleet" — I would take it out of the game. This can be done economically by blocking the Baltic Sea, from where 70% of supplies come. Russia will react — we saw this when Estonia detained one vessel, and Moscow immediately responded."
In addition, Keith Kellogg commented on Trump's new nickname — "Taco" (an abbreviation of "Trump Always Chickens Out" — "Trump always gives up").
"I recently wrote an article where I noted that President Trump has given Russia two-week ultimatums at least four times in recent months: either you go to peace, or there will be sanctions. All deadlines passed without reaction. Because of this, Ukraine and its allies are disappointed. Some even gave him the nickname "Taco". But I think he's just disappointed because he thought a personal relationship with Putin would help. But Putin is just leading him by the nose," the special representative of the US president believes.
In his opinion, the level of irritation at Trump is only growing, but when it comes "to the decisive moment," Kellogg does not know.
