The former participant of the Star Factory project, Belarusian singer Rita Dakota (Margarita Belogai, nee Gerasimovich) never planned to live in the USA. She stated this in a video on her page on the social network.

"This is a very expensive and uncomfortable country to live in, where objectively no one needs me," Dakota said.

According to her, she left for the USA in 2023, intending to get an education and record an album in English "not instead of a Russian career, but in addition to it."

Dakota claims that while she was studying in the USA, she was "banned" in Russia, and now she has "nowhere to study music." Now the singer is already in Bali, where there are no musicians whom she would consider appropriate to her level.

"I am sitting without my favorite thing and climbing the wall from the amount of music that tears me from the inside and cannot be recorded and released. This is my personal hell," she concluded.

As reported by EADaily, at the end of July, Dakota announced that her career in Russia is finished.

"I can no longer perform in Russia. I can't play concerts where my soul has remained forever," the artist wrote.

According to her, the concerts continued as long as it was possible, "as long as I could remain a free, honest and independent artist."

Dakota's last concert in Moscow took place in October 2023. After that, she and her family moved to the USA.

Later it became known that the singer received a Russian passport in December 2022, but she never advertised this information. After publications about Russian citizenship appeared, Dakota confirmed that she had received a Russian passport.

The telegram channel Shot claimed that Dakota almost one day sold real estate in Russia for a total amount of more than 140 million rubles.
