The EU countries adhere to the invented stratagem — they put the door in front of themselves and hid behind it, as in the cartoon about three piglets, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sputnik radio, responding to a request to comment on a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The diplomat in response offered to contact the French Embassy in Moscow for comment.
"I see that the Ambassador [of France], upon arrival, began actively giving interviews, trying to do it, at least. I think he can also comment on why not. You see, when accusations begin [against] our country, when statements begin that I will never talk to us, we need to be "isolated", <> they are capable. Here, please, there is a fact that has happened, please comment on it from France. Tell us about motivation. Tell us about why now and why not then. Tell us why we talked about some other things before, why we didn't maintain political contacts," Zakharova said.
"It seems to me that exactly the same thing can be addressed, by the way, to the embassies of other NATO countries. They have just hosted a cascade of events: both NATO and EU summits. They again agreed to "restrain" us, "hold" us, "hold" us. You know, such impressions, here I look at them, <> there was a cartoon about three piglets, you know, when everything is already blown away there, and they are all hiding behind the door, it's already funny. Moreover, if the wolf was still blowing in the cartoon, then now no one is blowing, because they [Western countries] put the door in front of themselves, hid behind it themselves, and they themselves believe that it is dangerous somewhere, but it is safe with them. This is such an invented stratagem," said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, quoted by TASS.
EADaily adds that the day before, the first telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, took place in three years. According to the Kremlin, they discussed the situation in the Middle East, stressing the importance of respecting Tehran's "legitimate right" to develop a peaceful atom.
During the conversation about SMO of Russia on Putin called it a "direct consequence of the policy of Western states" in Ukraine, which "for many years" ignored Russia's security interests, created in Ukraine has an "anti-Russian bridgehead." Putin also accused the West of "prolonging hostilities" by "feeding the Kiev regime with various modern weapons."
The Elysee Palace said that Macron called on Putin "for an immediate cease-fire," reaffirming France's firm commitment to the "sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."
