The Azerbaijani community in Russia accused Baku of putting compatriots at risk by heating up relations in connection with the detention of citizens of the republic in Yekaterinburg.

"While the Russian Azerbaijani community is trying to recover from another shock in connection with the death of compatriots as a result of a raid by law enforcement officers, officials in Baku continues to play politics. "The Azerbaijani diaspora has to bear all this while the Azerbaijani authorities are busy with political games that damage the reputation of the Russian Azerbaijani community," the statement said.

According to representatives of the diaspora, it is much more appropriate for Baku to focus not on trying to be rude to Moscow, but on diplomatic work and on providing effective assistance to our fellow countrymen suspected of serious crimes.
