The Azerbaijani community in Russia accused Baku of putting compatriots at risk by heating up relations in connection with the detention of citizens of the republic in Yekaterinburg.

"While the Russian Azerbaijani community is trying to recover from another shock in connection with the death of compatriots as a result of a raid by law enforcement officers, officials in Baku continues to play politics. Every time in times of crisis for the Diaspora, they use their entire media machine only to destroy relations with the Russian Federation," the diaspora said in a statement on the telegram channel.

The community drew attention to the article of the state agency Azertag. It says that what happened in Yekaterinburg testifies to the pressure to which representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora living in Yekaterinburg are "often subjected". Russia, and other diasporas.

"The Azertag article directed against the Russian Federation has nothing to do with the intention to help Azerbaijanis in the The Urals. And it is a great regret that our esteemed President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, and his officials do not understand at all that by insulting Russia, they are insulting the Diaspora as well, and for the umpteenth time they are exposing all Russian Azerbaijanis to new blows," the community noted.

"Not a single self-respecting Russian Azerbaijani" wants to answer for the insults of the Russian leadership, including President Vladimir Putin, which are voiced by Azerbaijani journalists, the Diaspora emphasizes.

"The Azerbaijani diaspora has to bear all this while the Azerbaijani authorities are busy with political games that damage the reputation of the Russian Azerbaijani community," the statement said.

According to representatives of the diaspora, it is much more appropriate for Baku to focus not on trying to be rude to Moscow, but on diplomatic work and on providing effective assistance to our fellow countrymen suspected of serious crimes.

On June 27, mass arrests of Azerbaijanis took place in Yekaterinburg as part of the investigation into the murders committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said that among the detainees there are dead and wounded, and asked to bring to justice those involved in the violence. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the detentions of representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora were carried out as part of the investigation of criminal cases on the fact of serious crimes. Charge d'affaires of Russia Pyotr Volokov, invited to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on June 28, assured that the situation is under the control of law enforcement agencies.

The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan stated that due to "targeted killings and violent actions" against Azerbaijanis, all cultural events planned jointly with Russian state and private institutions will be canceled. For the same reason, RBC writes, the Azerbaijani delegation decided not to participate in the meeting of the commission of the Parliament of the Republic and the Federal Assembly of Russia on inter-parliamentary cooperation.
