Special Envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff expressed the hope that de-escalation between Israel and Iran will inspire the participants of the Ukrainian conflict to conclude peace.
"I think it inspires the whole world. And I think when you see the hope that now comes from what happened here, I think it can also gravitate to Russia and Ukraine. This is what we hope, we hope that people will look at what happened in Iran and say, 'You know what, we also want to be part of such a peace process,'" Witkoff told CNBC.
Moscow prefers diplomatic methods in the context of resolving the situation around Ukraine, but it is necessary to eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier.
