The State Duma is sounding the alarm due to the growth of drivers' refusals to let cars with flashing lights pass

The head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vasily Piskarev, announced a "significant increase" in cases of drivers refusing to let cars with flashing lights pass, but without color coloring on board. In this regard, he initiated a bill according to which fines for violations will increase to 7.5 thousand rubles, and drivers will face deprivation of rights for up to one year. The document was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

The bill is presented in the form of amendments to Article 12.17 of the Administrative Code of Russia, Kommersant reports. In accordance with the current article, drivers are punished with a warning or a fine of 500 rubles for refusing to let a special vehicle pass with a blue flashing light on and an audible signal. If we are talking about vehicles with a flashing light on and "color schemes and inscriptions" (ambulance, police car, etc.), the fine is from 4.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for a period of three months to one year.

Piskarev proposed to extend these sanctions for refusing to allow any special vehicles with blue and red beacons to pass if they are accompanied by protected persons. In an explanatory note to the document, he noted a "significant increase" in cases when drivers do not let vehicles through under the protection of the Federal Security Service (FSO), as well as the fact that state security facilities can be moved both with the escort of the traffic police and independently — by transport.

The deputy also recalled the SMO and the growth of terrorist threats, "due to the intensification of the activities of radical structures and sabotage and intelligence groups."

The publication notes that the Russian government has approved the concept of the bill. The draft conclusion of the Cabinet of Ministers states that the amendments are supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, the government of the Russian Federation also proposes to amend Part 2 of Article 12.17 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, which refers to the "failure to provide an advantage" to a machine with color coloring. Now there is mentioned a transport with a blue flashing light and a beep.
