The condition of the director of the Taigan Park, Oleg Zubkov, who was attacked by a lion, was stabilized, said the chief thoracic surgeon of the Republic of Crimea, Andrei Doroshenko.
Now Oleg Zubkov is in intensive care. He is in serious condition. Andrei Doroshenko said that the operation lasted three hours. Two doctors took part in it. The patient had a damaged trachea, neck and large pectoral muscle on the left.
"The lion tore with his fangs… All this is sutured, the trachea is sutured, the muscles are sutured, the bleeding is stopped," the Fifth Channel quotes the doctor as saying.
However, it is still too early to give concrete forecasts.
"God willing, everything will be fine," Doroshenko said.
According to the surgeon, Oleg Zubkov will be in Crimea until June 23. Then the doctors will decide on his transfer to the Moscow clinic.
The lion attacked the director and founder of the Yalta zoo "Skazka" and safari park "Taigan" Oleg Zubkov on June 22. The man was urgently taken to the nearest hospital. The man's hands, head and face were badly injured.
