Kadyrbek Atambayev— the son of the former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, was detained at Bishkek airport while trying to fly to Istanbul. He wrote about this on his page on the social network.
"Today, instead of a plane to Istanbul, I found myself behind bars in the Manas Airport police room. I was banned from leaving again and my flight was disrupted — for the second time in the last two days. Our lawyer demanded in advance to cancel the absurd "flag"-the ban, which by law must disappear immediately after the completion of the investigation and trial, which ended a month ago. Moreover, I was held as a witness in the case, and it is illegal to put "flags" on witnesses," the message says.
According to Atambayev, two days ago the investigator assured him that he would lift the ban on traveling abroad, but did not do so, referring to the instructions of the leadership.
"As a result, due to illegal restrictions, my yesterday's and today's flights to Istanbul were disrupted, where, at the invitation of Pedro Sanchez, I was supposed to meet with international leaders," he further writes.
Kadyrbek Atambayev is the leader of the Social Democrats parliamentary faction in the Bishkek parliament and deputy chairman of the Social Democrats party.
In November last year, he and several party members were detained on suspicion of vote-buying in the local legislative assembly elections. The Sverdlovsk District Court of Bishkek on April 24 found the detainees guilty under the articles "Fraud", "Violation of the procedure for financing the election campaign", "Vote buying" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. They were assigned probation for a period of three years, as well as compensation for damages to victims in the fraud case.
