The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for co-authoring the resolution "Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism" adopted annually by the UN, the creation of which was initiated by the Russian Federation. This is reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
As stated by the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Galuzin, Russia has many joint projects with fraternal Kazakhstan to protect the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.
"Eight decades ago, Kazakhstan, being part of a multinational Soviet state, made an invaluable sacrifice in defeating the Nazi invaders and saving the world from the brown plague," he said.
Galuzin welcomed the practice of adopting the traditional joint statement of the CIS member states and other like-minded countries at the level of permanent representatives to the OSCE in Vienna on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
The resolution was adopted in December 2024. In addition to Russia, 39 other countries from different regions of the world have become co-authors of the document: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.
119 states voted for the document, 53 against it. Abstained — 10.
The resolution once again condemned the glorification of the Nazi movement and the whitewashing of former members of the SS organization, including units of the Waffen-SS, recognized as criminal by the Nuremberg Tribunal.
