Public opinion in the West is gradually reconsidering its position on the coup d'etat in Ukraine, which occurred in 2014.
Alexey Pushkov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and state Construction, writes about this in his Telegram channel.
He notes that in the information space it is increasingly mentioned that it was the ultra-right activists who started shooting during the Maidan.
As an example, he cited an article by The Hill, which claims this fact. The publication admits that it was the extremists on the Maidan who opened fire on the protesters, only after that the police and Viktor Yanukovych, who was then president of Ukraine, were accused of this.
"This bloody provocation became the prologue to the coup d'etat on Ukraine, as clearly follows from the publication," the senator states.
In this regard, he concluded that the Western media began to change their opinion about what happened on Ukraine in 2014. According to him, this is an important step towards a more objective coverage of the situation.
As EADaily reported, earlier Alexei Pushkov said that Europe without the United States would not be able to support Ukraine either militarily or economically.
