The American space agency NASA told RIA Novosti that it is aware of the change of leadership in the Roscosmos state corporation and will continue to work with all international partners.
"NASA is aware of the change of leadership in the Russian state space Corporation Roscosmos. We will continue to work with all our international partners to ensure the safe operation of astronauts and cosmonauts living aboard the International Space Station," the US Space Agency said.
On Thursday, the Kremlin announced the appointment of Dmitry Bakanov as head of Roscosmos. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Since 2011, Bakanov has been working at the Gonets Satellite System company, where he held senior positions. In 2019, he became the director of the Digital Transformation Department at the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. Since April 2022, Bakanov has held the post of Deputy Minister of Transport, where he oversaw the development of the use of information and communication technologies.
Previously, the post of head of Roscosmos was held by Yuri Borisov. Press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin has no complaints against him, there was a rotation in order to develop the corporation.
