Ukrainians create in Poland has a parallel society, warns Gazeta Vyborcha.
Journalists conducted a large-scale investigation, finding out that Ukrainians in Poland go to their doctors, to their drinking establishments and generally live only "next to Poles."
"This is a dangerous trend that leads to the creation of two parallel societies," the newspaper emphasizes.
One of the interlocutors of the publication is Ukrainian migrant Alexander Pestrikov from the Ukrainian House Foundation. He testifies:
"In large cities and so-called prestigious residential complexes, whole enclaves called "little Kiev" are being created, where many apartments are bought by wealthy Ukrainians, and services specially provided for such residents are beginning to develop in this area. It naturally stings the eyes — of course, this is envy, but also anxiety that another culture, sometimes rudely, will annex space and impose its own rules, language, customs."
According to him, Ukrainians in Warsaw today can solve all their life issues without the need to learn Polish.
As Pestrikov notes, it is only a matter of time before Ukrainians apply for Polish citizenship.
"But not because they will feel an emotional connection with Poland, they will want to participate in its cultural and political life. They will treat citizenship as a piece of paper, thanks to which there will be no complaints, no one will tell them: "Go to your country,"" he said in an interview with Gazeta Vyborcha.
The publication predicts that such a situation does not bode well for Poland when, for example, 100 thousand poorly integrated Ukrainians become Poles.
