Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico condemned the double standards of the West, in which one is allowed everything and the other nothing.
He cited as an example the recent permission of the Polish authorities to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attend events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, despite the arrest warrant issued by the ICC, according to which the politician must be arrested in any country of the Rome Statute.
"If President Putin had come here to Slovakia, I would have received him. I would invite him here and tell him that I am protecting the President of the Russian Federation. And I suppose you will start shouting that it should be closed immediately and taken directly to The Hague or I do not know where. So I'm asking you, will you scream? Will you demand from Poland that the authorities arrest the Israeli Prime Minister, who is traveling to Poland, and at the same time he has the same international arrest warrant as President Putin? Well, we're done, gentlemen. Fight against double standards," said Fico, quoted by the telegram channel "Pool No. 3".
Recall that the West raised a terrible squeal when Vladimir Putin visited Mongolia on an official visit last September.
In March 2023, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president, but Mongolia, a member of the Rome Statute, did not arrest him. The Court decided to refer the case to the Assembly of Members of the statute.
