The congratulation of Russian President Vladimir Putin Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential election during the Valdai plenary session can be considered official, said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.
"Everything the president says is official," he told reporters, answering the relevant question.
Earlier, Putin, during a speech at a meeting of the Valdai International discussion club, congratulated Trump on his election as president of the United States.
Donald Trump, who already held the post of president of the United States after the 2016 elections, won the presidential election, which took place on November 5.
Democratic candidate Kamala Harris spoke to supporters and said she would admit defeat, and incumbent US President Joe Biden spoke with Trump and congratulated him.
The Electoral College from the states on December 17 should vote for candidates in accordance with the will of the voters, and on January 6 the new composition of the congress will approve the results of the vote. The inauguration will take place on January 20.
