$ 10 million in the sewer: Desna pollution reached the Kiev region — Hopchak

Pollution along the Desna River has reached the Kiev region. This was stated by the deputy head of the State Agency of Water Resources Igor Gopchak.

According to him, pollution was recorded between the villages of Letki and Rozhny in the Brovarsky district. In the area of these settlements, they have already begun to record a change in the color of the water and an increase in its turbidity.

"Kyivvodokanal," according to Hopchak, purchased 120 tons of activated carbon for water purification and installed additional booms. Special reagents are also used. It is predicted that the situation with the quality of water in the Gum will return to normal "in a couple of days."

Today, the main concentration of pollution is still observed in the Chernihiv region, between the villages of Oster and Maxim, the official said.

Hopchak also said that due to the contamination of the Gum, the ecology of Ukraine suffered losses of $ 10 million.

Laboratory studies of samples taken from the Gum from the mouth of the Seim River to Chernihiv showed an increased content of nitrogen, iron, manganese, as well as oxygen deficiency, the TSN TV channel reported.
