In 2017, the Ukrainian army advanced 10 and more kilometers in the conflict zone in Donbass Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said in an interview to Hromadske TV.
“I am glad to say that unlike the previous years, in 2016 and 2017, we ceded no single inch of our land. Even more, we advanced 10 and even more kilometers. This is a fact,” Turchynov said.
He is confident that today the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics have no forces that can change the existing contact line.
As EADaily reported earlier, on Feb 12, the Ukrainian army shelled the village of Dolomitne in the north of Horlivka. The press service of the army of the Donetsk People’s Republic quoted the Ukrainians as saying that they were conducting a realistic snap drill. “They are truly ‘realistic’ because they have chosen a real target on the other side of the contact line, a place inhabited by real people,” the source said.
