Ukraine’s budget received 24.9 bn hrivnas (about $927 mn) from transit of the Russian gas within nine months of the year, Naftogaz of Ukraine reports.
According to the company, the sum is comparable with budget expenditures for education within the same period and almost by 1.5 times more than expenditures for healthcare, sports and environment protection altogether.
“The earnings from January to September are by one third higher than all the planned expenditures for the National Police for the whole year of 2017,” the statement says. Besides, without the earnings from the gas transit in 2016, Ukraine would have had to organize additional capitalization of Naftogaz for more than 5 bn hryvnas, which would correspondingly increase the state debt.
According to Ukrtransgaz, within nine months of 2017, the gas transit rose by 23.5% comparing to the same period last year.
