Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced that “record-high” numbers of Russian troops are deployed near the Ukrainian border. He made the statement in an interview to TSN citing NATO, US and EU intelligence sources.
He also said that about 64,000 Ukrainian troops are now in the conflict zone in Donbass.
In early June, Poroshenko already said that “the level of threat of a Russian invasion” has become “unprecedentedly high.” He stated then that there were 114 battalion tactical units with 9,000 troops in Donbass.
As EADaily reported earlier, Kiev failed to provide any proofs for the statements. Moscow continuously denied reports on either participation of Russian troops in the fighting in eastern Ukraine or delivery of military equipment to the Donbass self-defenders.
