The US Democratic Party is beating the Republicans by a two-fold advantage during the midterm elections to the House of Representatives, according to Bloomberg's forecast. At the time of publication of the material, the Democrats have already taken 86 seats in the lower house of Congress, while the Republicans have only 43.
At the same time, in three electoral districts — in the sixth district of Kentucky, the eleventh district of North Carolina and the eighth district of Pennsylvania — Democrats took seats previously held by Republicans.
In the previous Congress, the Republicans had 218 seats in the House of Representatives against the Democrats' 214, that is, now the Democratic party needs to gain four seats to control the Chamber.
Earlier, the American analytical service Decision Desk HQ estimated the probability of the transfer of control over the US House of Representatives to the Democrats at 84 percent.
On November 3, midterm congressional elections are being held in the United States, which will determine whether Republicans will retain a majority in both chambers. In the House of Representatives, voters will have to choose all 435 congressmen, in the Senate — 35 out of 100 legislators.
It is enough for Democrats to increase their representation in the lower house by only four seats compared to the current 214 to reach the threshold of 218 seats required for a majority.
Republicans can lose no more than three seats in the upper house in order to maintain control over it.
US President Donald Trump has already threatened to veto the legislative initiatives of the Democrats if they get a majority in the Congress.
