Polish fighters intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Head — Minister of Defense of Poland Vladislav Kosinyak—Kamysh, radio station RMF24 reports.
It is noted that the Russian plane was intercepted over international waters.
"Our planes intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the international waters of the Baltic Sea," the head of the Ministry of Defense wrote on the social network X.
He claims that the IL-20 transponders were turned off, and the purpose of the flight was to "test" Polish air defense systems.
Operational Command The Polish Armed Forces, meanwhile, stressed that there had been no violation of the country's airspace.
