The descent or non—descent of the Blessed Fire is not the most important harbinger of the Second Coming of Christ. This was stated by the vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Deputy managing director of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop Siluan (Vyurov) of Pavlovo-Posadsky.
"This belief is not biblical. I do not belittle its importance, but in The Holy Scriptures indicate other signs of the Second Coming, much more important," RIA Novosti quoted a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church.
He called one of the most important and most tragic signs "the impoverishment of love in many" due to the multiplication of iniquities.
"That's when the degree of enmity exceeds the gorenje of love in society — it's a more obvious sign of the approach of the Second Coming," — concluded Bishop Siluan.
As EADaily reported, in October last year, at a meeting with participants of the Faith and the Word festival, the Patriarch of Moscow and Kirill reminded All Russia that "the end of human civilization, with which the Second Coming will be associated, is something that will certainly take place."
"The day and hour of the Second Coming of the Lord is a mystery that will be revealed only with the coming itself. What do we care when all this happens? Our question is our demise. This will be the Second Coming for us — because we will appear before the Lord and judgment will be done on us ... We need to think less about the apocalypse, more about the salvation of the soul," the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church instructed.
