The Yemeni Houthis said they could block the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait for ships associated with the United States and Israel.

"After the decision to intervene is made, the first measure may be the official announcement of a naval blockade against the United States and the Zionist regime. Merchant ships and military vessels, including aircraft carriers destined for the territory of the United States and the occupied territories, can be stopped," said a high-ranking commander of the Yemeni armed forces, Abed al-Taour, the Iranian Press TV channel reported.

According to him, the closure of the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait is one of the measures.

Earlier, the Yemeni Houthis had already arranged, in fact, a blockade of the strait and The Red Sea after the start of the Israeli operation in The Gaza Strip. Now, after the shutdown of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea is the main region for oil exports from Saudi Arabia.
