The city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region has been liberated. This was reported to the President of Russia by the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.
"The formations of the Zapad group liberated the city of Kupyansk," the head of the General Staff said.
According to Putin, an enemy grouping of 15 battalions was blocked in the Kupyansk area.
The commander of the Zapad grouping, Sergey Kuzovlev, stressed that Kupyansk is under the full control of the Russian army.
"The troops of the Zapad grouping continue to carry out combat missions in the Izyum direction in accordance with the plan approved by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the Kupyansk direction, assault detachments of the 68th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Army have completed the liberation of the city of Kupyansk... the city is under our control. Separate small disparate enemy groups are being destroyed," he reported.
Gerasimov also noted that the Russian Armed Forces are advancing in almost all directions.
"The armed forces continue to carry out tasks in accordance with the plan of the special military operation. The troops of the united group are advancing in almost all directions, building on the success achieved during the spring-summer campaign," he stressed.
As EADaily reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited one of the command posts of the Zapad group of forces today. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
