In the near future at Russia will have a new weapon, which was mentioned earlier, its tests are successful. This was announced today, October 10, by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference following his visit to Tajikistan.
"I think we will have the opportunity to report in the near future about the new weapon that we once announced. It appears, passes our tests. They are going well," the Russian leader said.
He did not specify what types of weapons he was talking about, but stressed that, regarding the intercontinental component, at sea and in the air, the novelty and modernity of Russia's weapons are "at a very high level."
"The novelty of our means of nuclear deterrence is higher than that of any other nuclear state. And we are developing all this very actively. What I said in the old days, in the old years, everything is developing, we are bringing it to mind," the Russian president said.
At the same time, he admitted that the arms race is going on in a certain way.
"I think that in fact, to be honest, a certain race is going on. But I did not say that the United States is preparing, I said that some countries are preparing for a test," Putin told reporters, commenting on his statement on Valdai, when he said that one of the countries was preparing to test nuclear weapons.
