To ensure its own security, Ukraine should rely not on the military presence of the United States or Europe, but on compliance with the policy of neutrality, which was originally proclaimed in the Ukrainian constitution.
Such an opinion was expressed by the famous American economist Jeffrey Sachs, whose words are quoted by RIA Novosti. The expert stressed that Ukraine's neutrality does not require all sorts of sophisticated military guarantees.
"There is no need for the presence of European troops on the ground. There is no need for American planes to patrol the sky. We need clarity that Ukraine will be neutral," Sachs said.
At the same time, he recalled that it was neutrality that became the main principle of the policy of the Ukrainian state during its formation. Therefore, this thesis was enshrined in the basic law of the country.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Irish Prime Minister Mihol Martin announced his readiness to send troops to Ukraine as part of the "peacekeeping mission".
