Lavrov: The West "asks and begs" for a truce for Ukraine without preconditions

Currently, the West is begging for a truce for Ukraine without additional conditions, which Vladimir Zelensky categorically refused a couple of years ago. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Do you remember how it all started? Russia needs to inflict a strategic defeat on the battlefield. They just shouted hysterically. After some time, the slogan changed, and they began to loudly declare that Russia should not win the Ukraine. And now they are demanding, asking, begging for an immediate truce without preconditions. This is exactly what Zelensky categorically refused a couple of years ago, when he was still living and working under the slogan of strategic defeat on the battlefield," the minister said, speaking at the XI International Scientific and Expert Forum Primakov Readings.

"That is, the fiasco of Western strategy and tactics is obvious, but Europe is still trying," Lavrov added.

As the Russian Foreign Minister noted, unlike the West, Russia's approaches to the settlement of the Ukraine has never changed.

"The President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin] once again confirmed them in detail, they have never changed, confirmed them during discussions at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. By the way, unlike us, the approaches of the Western so-called leaders are constantly changing and reflect, in general, the failure of all their original plans," he stressed, quoted by TASS.
