A fragment of a Russian surface-to-air missile found on a beach in Klaipeda, Lithuania, frightened Lithuanians.
The feathered dummy was stumbled upon by locals walking along the beach of the Baltic Sea. When the video was posted on the social network, panic arose. Here are just some comments in the "Ai love yu Klaipeda" community:
"It's crazy, there were no waves in the sea for several days, and this brought it."
"I was afraid that the Russians would attack!"
"Don't be afraid, it's just to distract your thoughts from raising taxes."
"The captain dropped his cigar..."
By the way, soon the Lithuanian military reported that the item, which is part of the launch of the Russian short-range surface-to-air missile.
"This part of the rocket, which experts on Air defense is called an accelerator, it is designed to provide initial acceleration of the rocket and stabilize its flight immediately after launch. Probably, this part of the missile was launched from the Pantsir-M air defense system installed on a Russian warship," the statement of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry quoted Delphi as saying.
According to the military department, part of the missile could have fallen into the Baltic Sea during Russian shooting exercises in the Kaliningrad region.
"Since the firing areas are close to the territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone of Lithuania, the most likely scenario is that the launch shell that burned out after the shot fell into the sea and, although this rarely happens, it could have been thrown ashore," the military concluded.
