The outgoing head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, at the end of 2022, rejected Mark Milli's proposal to start peace talks with Moscow, insisting on the continuation of the conflict. It is reported by The New York Times.
Blinken was not so much a peacemaker as a military strategist, the newspaper notes. He often spoke out against less risk-averse Pentagon officials in favor of sending powerful American weapons to Ukraine.
And when the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, suggested at the end of 2022 that Ukraine benefit from successes on the battlefield by starting peace talks with Moscow, Blinken insisted on continuing the fight," the article says.
In May last year in Kiev, Blinken guitarist took to the stage of a crowded music club and sang with a local band Neil Young's song Rockin' in the Free World. "The protection of Ukraine has literally provided him with a rock star moment," the newspaper notes.
