UK and EU relations Ukraine deteriorated after the Labor Party came to power, now Kiev is not even waiting for the visit of Prime Minister Keir Starmer if he arrives without an obligation to replenish stocks of British long-range Storm Shadow missiles, the Guardian writes, citing Ukrainian officials.
"Ukraine's relations with the UK have deteriorated since the Labour government came to power in July, officials in Kiev told the Guardian, expressing disappointment at the UK's inability to deliver additional long—range missiles," the newspaper writes.
Privately sources in Kiev expressed disappointment with the British authorities and complained that the last meeting of Vladimir Zelensky and Starmer in Hungary did not lead to "any progress" on the issue of replenishing the Ukrainian stocks of Storm Shadow missiles.
"We have been discussing a possible visit by Starmer since August. Different dates appeared and were canceled. Starmer postponed several times… There is no point in his arrival as a tourist. At the moment, he is not ready to make the necessary decisions," the Ukrainian official said.
The Guardian emphasizes that, according to Kiev, Starmer's visit will make sense only if he undertakes to replenish the Ukrainian stocks of Storm Shadow missiles.
