Russia occupies a leading position among the importing countries of non-oil products from Azerbaijan, especially in the categories of plastic products, tomatoes and fruits. He writes about this Pravda.Ru , publishing a list of product categories.
The main commodity of Azerbaijan's non—oil exports were plastic products - the volume of their deliveries abroad amounted to $ 368.9 million. This is followed by gold ($211.9 million) and cotton ($177.1 million), according to statistics from the UN Comtrade international trading platform.
The top ten most exported goods also included exotic fruits ($175.5 million), tomatoes ($175.4 million), cars ($171.7 million), nuts ($131.3 million), mineral fertilizers ($126.2 million), aluminum sheets ($110.1 million) and stone fruits such as peaches, cherries and nectarines ($99.4 million million).
Russia turned out to be the largest sales market for half of these commodity items. Its share in stone fruit exports is especially noticeable — 98% of the total volume, which is equivalent to 97.1 million dollars. Almost the entire Azerbaijani export of tomatoes (96%, or $ 168.7 million) He was also sent to Russia.
A similar situation is observed with the supply of exotic fruits — 87 percent of the total ($153.4 million), plastic products — 64 percent ($235.7 million) and nuts, mainly forest nuts — 53% ($70.2 million).
Against the background of these close economic ties, attention was drawn to the recent comment of the deputy of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Rasim Musabekov, who in an interview with the local newspaper Minval announced the suspension of negotiations between Baku and Moscow on a number of major economic projects.
Although the details of these projects are not disclosed, the suspension of interaction may affect the future dynamics of trade relations between the two countries, especially in the context of food and agricultural exports.
In recent years, the Azerbaijani authorities have been actively striving to diversify the economy, reducing dependence on oil and gas exports. In this context, the agricultural sector, the chemical industry and metal processing are becoming increasingly important sources of foreign trade revenues.
Russia, in turn, remains one of the key partners both in terms of supplies and investment cooperation.
