It is reported that after processing 91.35% of the votes for joining America, 56.82% of those who voted, 30.85% were in favor of the island's independence, 12.33% were in favor of expanded autonomy.
Since 1898, the freely associated state of Puerto Rico has been administered by the United States, and most of the population has American citizenship. At the same time, Puerto Ricans do not have the right to participate in presidential elections.
