A conservative, former French Foreign Minister, ex-European Commissioner, 73-year-old Michel Barnier, has been appointed the new prime minister of France. This was announced today, September 5, by the BFMTV channel with reference to the Elysee Palace.

Michel Barnier graduated from the higher commercial school in Paris. He headed the French Foreign Ministry in Raffarin's cabinet from March 31, 2004 to June 5, 2005.
