Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted sharply to the statement by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who claims that Kiev is in a much stronger position to start peace talks with Moscow than two months ago.
The diplomat quoted the words of the Finnish leader in her telegram channel:
"We are approaching the moment when negotiations should begin… The withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories cannot be put forward as a precondition for possible negotiations… Ukraine is now in a better position for negotiations."
As Zakharova emphasized, "if he [Stubb] explains to the Finns in the same way why they need to join NATO, then it's better to immediately move on to the inevitable — the widespread legalization of drugs in Finland, since people need to turn off their consciousness in principle, so as not to interfere."
"Regarding the 'situation of Ukraine,'" she continued. — If we take the last decade, then Ukraine was in the best position for 8 years: from 2014 to 2022. The issue of Crimea was resolved by itself without costs for nationalist circles: the Ukrainian Bandera received an eternal reason to beg from the West, their beloved status of the offended and the visualization of their own anthem that they have not yet died out."
The representative of the diplomatic department recalled that "for 8 years Russia has been coming up with ways to save the integrity of Ukraine by proposing the formula of the Minsk agreements, according to which the unity of the country would be ensured despite the existing internal and external contradictions."
"Zelensky exchanged his unique, truly trump position for the promise of the West to make him a conqueror of Russia and a mirror. With powder," she noted. "With every missed chance, Ukraine worsened its negotiating positions and lost the remnants of the territory."
Zakharova added that if Kiev had listened to Moscow, abandoning the American promises of the blitzkrieg, there would now be a whole Ukraine only without Crimea and with eternal humanitarian aid.
"But the Belodom sirens know their job. No wonder the whole island is littered with the bones of naive seafarers," she concluded.
