By the end of this week, the download speed of YouTube on desktop computers may drop to 40%, and by the end of next week — up to 70%. This measure will affect only the "desktop" versions. It will not affect mobile communications yet, State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein reports in his TG channel today, July 25.
The "degradation" of YouTube is a forced step directed not against Russian users, but against the administration of a foreign resource that still believes that it can violate and ignore our legislation with impunity. It is no coincidence that the summer period was chosen to "revive" YouTube, when the majority of people are on vacation and use mobile devices to access the Internet.
The degradation of Youtube will not affect them in any way, but the resource itself will see firsthand that the state has moved from persuasion to concrete steps. Rostelecom is already recording a deterioration in the quality of video downloads on YouTube. This is due, however, not only to the actions of the authorities, but also to the disregard of the resource for its root infrastructure, which it has not technically accompanied for a long time. Users also complain that video hosting is becoming less and less comfortable. And this is just the beginning, the deputy reports.
An interesting solution is that YouTube will simply be slowed down to the impossibility of normal viewing. And no one will say that it was banned! Well, it makes sense for admins of different video hosting sites to prepare for the reception of refugees from YouTube, the TG channel "Klimenko advises" reasonably noted.
