Vladimir Zelensky's request to Western countries to destroy Russian missiles was rejected by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was reported by the newspaper Die Zeit on July 18.
"I see such a consensus that such steps are out of the question, and the United States is also very clear about this," the publication quoted the Chancellor as saying.
It is noted that it was also about Zelensky's request to completely lift restrictions on strikes deep into the territories of Russia.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg opposed Poland's proposal to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine. The idea was announced on July 8 at the conclusion of the agreement on the security of Poland and Ukraine. It was noted that it provides for the possibility of Poland intercepting missiles in Ukrainian airspace.
