Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has suspended its consul in Hamburg over anti-Semitic statements, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin.
The minister said disciplinary proceedings were launched against the consul in Hamburg.
“I have zero tolerance to such inappropriate behavior. We are a free country, but one should not forget that freedom means responsibility,” Klimkin posted on Twitter.
As EADaily reported earlier, Foreign Ministry representative Mariana Betza said they weighed possible suspension of the consul.
The scandal broke out after May 13 media reports saying Ukraine’s Consul to Hamburg Vasily Marushchinets made anti-Semitic post in social media.
