Lithuanian citizen Romualdas Lipskis has been imprisoned for spying for the General Staff of the Belorussian Army, EADaily is told at the Vilnius district court.
Lipskis is former flight operations officer. According to the investigators, when employed by Oro navigacija, he photographed secret documents in his office and sent them to employee of the General Staff of the Belorussian Army, his childhood friend Sergey Kurulenko. Lipskis was asked to provide data on U.S. planes at the Vilnius aerodrome and on the control systems of the Zokniai air base, where NATO has battle planes.
Lipskis was detained last year. Former Head of the National Security Department of Lithuania Gediminas Grina said that it took them three years to detect Lipskis.
Lipskis was put in jail for three years and three months but since he has already been in custody for one and a half year, he will be set free in a year and four months.
