During the last meeting of the Contact Group, the Ukrainian representatives rejected the proposals of the Donetsk People’s Republic on amendments to the law on the special status of the DPR and election procedures in the republic.
The Donetsk News Agency quotes the press service of the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin as saying that the Ukrainian representatives refused to discuss this question despite earlier agreements.
Earlier, Pushilin said that during the previous meeting the Ukrainian negotiators agreed to consider the changes to the law on the special status of Donbass, but now they want the elections in the DPR to be cancelled and suggest nothing in exchange.
As EADaily reported earlier, the meetings of the Contact Group and its four sub-groups took place in Minsk on Sept 22. The negotiators from the DPR suggested conducting the second stage of the elections in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics on Feb 21.
