Large fire breaks out in Chernobyl exclusion zone

Grass and reed have caught fire in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl forest, press office of the Ukrainian State Service for Emergency Situations reports today, on June 30.

The fire spread in several points covering a territory of 130 hectares. Firefighters have been extinguishing the fire which was registered on June 29. 24 pieces of equipment and 117 are taking part in fighting the sire.

Special control point was established on the site, a mobile task force led by deputy commander of Kiev Region department of the Ukrainian State Service for Emergency Situations is working there.
