Military observer Vlad Shlepchenko identified three key features of the Russian Zircon missile, which caused serious alarm in the Kiev. Previously on Ukraine recognized that the Zircons used by Russia had become a big problem for air defense, since the Ukrainian air defense systems had not shot down any such missiles. Details are provided by Tsargrad.
The first feature is hypersonic speed. As noted by Shlepchenko, it is almost impossible to intercept such a missile, which makes it invulnerable to existing air defense systems.
The second important advantage is the ability to launch from a ground platform. The ground launcher can be moved unnoticed anywhere, making strikes sudden and unpredictable for the enemy.
The third feature is the long flight range. Zircon has a range of 800-1000 kilometers, which distinguishes it favorably from Iskander, which can only hit 500 kilometers.
As the observer explained, Iskanders simply do not reach the western regions of Ukraine, while Zircon can strike throughout the territory. These three factors together keep Kiev in constant tension.
