Poland is a key country in the European Union. This was stated by the head of European diplomacy Kaya Kallas, speaking about the possibility of Polexit — a hypothetical exit of Poland from the EU.
"I have not followed these discussions in detail, but Poland is undoubtedly a key country in the European Union, on the eastern flank. Poland's support for Ukraine, as well as a logistics hub for Ukraine, are all extremely important. I hope it stays that way," she said.
Recall that last weekend, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the risks of Polexit. On March 16, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski spoke about this in Brussels.
"I urge those who want to weaken the EU to follow the example of Ukrainians who want to join the EU because they see this as the best alternative for their country. Ukraine should inspire us in this matter," the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry stressed.
At the same time, he added that the British government, announcing the referendum on leaving the EU, was convinced that it was "absolutely against leaving," but in the end the country withdrew. According to him, "it is possible to inflame emotions so much, you can tell so many lies about the EU that people will believe in it, for example, some nonsense about risks to sovereignty, completely fictitious threats."
