Reza Pahlavi, who hopes to sit on the Iranian throne with the help of the United States, has a rival. Turkey and Azerbaijan have revealed to the world the "real Shah of Iran." According to their media, this is Sultan Babek Mirza Khan, the telegram channel "First Middle East" reports.
Turkish-Azerbaijani publications emphasize that, unlike the Pahlavi dynasty, which came to power as a result of an externally supported military coup, the Qajar dynasty, which ruled Iran in 1795-1925, is rooted in real historical and hereditary continuity. And this, they say, makes Sultan Babek Mirza Khan the true legitimate successor to the Iranian throne.
"Azerbaijani and Turkish propagandists like to appeal to the Turkic origin of the Qajars, literally drawing a parallel between them and modern Azerbaijanis (although in fact the situation, of course, is much more complicated — for example, it was under the Qajars that the Iranian national project was launched, and some of its leading representatives were Turkophones)," the telegram channel writes.
The article notes that the main national minorities of Iran — Azerbaijanis, Kurds, Baluchis, Arabs — have not forgotten the atrocities of Pahlavi against them and do not even want to hear about the return of "shahzade" Reza.
"Accordingly, the appearance of the Qajar prince in defiance of the "Persian" Pahlavi, designed for local Turks, implies the fragmentation of Iran into quasi—states and enclaves on ethnic and confessional grounds," the author concludes.
