Hungary is the only one of the 27 EU member states that did not support the statement of the head of the European diplomacy Kai Kallas about the US invasion of Venezuela. This follows from a statement published on the website of the European External Action Service.

Because of this, the statement could not be agreed as a general one, it passes as supported by 26 EU countries.

In the statement The EU calls on all participants for calm and restraint "in order to avoid escalation and ensure a peaceful resolution of the crisis." The European Union has repeatedly stated that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, captured by the United States on January 3, "does not have the legitimacy of a democratically elected president," the document says. It emphasizes that the EU stands for "a peaceful transition to democracy in the country under the leadership of Venezuela, with respect for its sovereignty, the right of the Venezuelan people to determine their future must be respected."

"The EU shares the priority of combating transnational organized crime and drug trafficking, which pose a serious threat to security around the world," the document says.

However, the statement emphasizes that these challenges need to be addressed through ongoing cooperation in full compliance with international law, the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Actually, all this, only in a more compact form, Callas outlined earlier in the social network X.

As reported by EADaily, the European Union is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela. This was stated in the social network X by the head of the European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.
