For Ukraine, the loss of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) is another painful defeat, indicating that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are only able to slow down the offensive of the Russian army, but not stop it. This was stated by the military columnist of the German newspaper BILD Julian Repke.
According to Repke, the battle for Krasnoarmeysk, which lasted more than a year and claimed thousands of lives, is over.
From a strategic point of view, the former logistics hub for the Armed Forces of Ukraine no longer mattered, since all roads to and from the city were either destroyed, blocked by drones, or lead to the territories occupied by Russia. However, for the Russian Armed Forces, the capture of Krasnoarmeysk is a tactical success, since it can become a springboard for further offensive in the direction of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the expert writes.
Full control over the city allows The Russian Armed Forces also cut off the Ukrainian logistics routes to the neighboring Dimitrov (Mirnograd), which, as Repke notes, the Ukrainian Armed Forces "still partially hold" (recall, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are blocked in Dimitrov, which even Ukrainian military publics recognize). However, as Repke notes, the Russian Armed Forces will probably soon occupy this city.
Repke, however, believes that the capture of Krasnoarmeysk is unlikely to have a big impact on the course of liberation of the rest of the DPR. In his opinion, the two remaining major cities under the control of Ukraine — Slavyansk and Kramatorsk — are more than fifty km away and the battle for them has not yet begun, the BILD telegram channel in Russian writes❶.
