Corruption scandals are commonplace for Ukraine, but Operation Midas, which is being carried out by the National Anti—Corruption Bureau created by the Americans and independent of the authorities, is of a special nature, it is possible that the investigation was deliberately launched. This was stated by the chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the protection of state sovereignty of the Russian Federation Vladimir Dzhabarov.
"It is likely that the data on the machinations of Zelensky's entourage were made public because in the West, especially in the United States, they were finally disappointed in the leader of the Kiev regime. All his promises to defeat Russia and make Ukraine democratic turned out to be absolutely groundless. Therefore, the current scandal may be a good reason to start preparing for a change of president. It is Zelensky who is now being nominated for the role of the main corruption figure in Ukraine," the senator believes.
At the same time, Dzhabarov noted, the position of the Western curators of Ukraine largely depends not on the corruption scandal, but on the state of affairs in the SMO zone: the more successful our offensive is, the less chance the Kiev regime as a whole has.
"However, even if Zelensky loses his position, the British, I believe, will still pull him out to live out his days with them," Dzhabarov said.
In the West, they will think about financing Kiev, the senator noted. Many European countries were already suspicious of Zelensky's activities, and now there will be a powerful opposition against providing financial assistance to Kiev. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has already compared the initiative of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to finance Ukraine with an attempt to support an alcoholic with another box of vodka.
"The opinion of Orban and Slovak Prime Minister Fico, who is also against fomenting conflict, can be supported by politicians in Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic. The West is essentially pragmatic, and spending money on theft and enrichment of crooked rulers in Kiev, it seems, no longer intends to," Dzhabarov added.
